Pre-matric Scholarship to Minority Students. A J&K State government Scheme.

The scholarship at pre-matric level will encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education.


The scheme will form the foundation for their educational attainment and provide a level playing field in the competitive employment arena. Empowerment through education which is one of the objectives of this scheme, has the potential to lead to upliftment of the socio economic conditions of the minority. 30% of scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students are not available then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students. The Scholarship is given to the students upto 10th. The scholarship is given only for nine working months of the academic year.

Funding Pattern for Pre-matric Scholarship to Minority Students:
 The scheme is funded in the ratio of 75 : 25. Union Territories will be provided 100 % Central Assistance.
Benefits of Pre-matric Scholarship to Minority Students
Actual financial assistance will be provided for admission/tuition fee and maintenance allowance as given below subject to a maximum ceiling indicated against item concerned.

Eligibility Criteria for Pre-matric Scholarship to Minority Students

  • Scholarship will be awarded to the student as who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2 lakh.
  • Scholarship will be given to more than two students in a family.
  • The students should be regular in attendance for which the yardstick will be decided by the competent authority of the School/College/University
  • Migration of students from one institution to another would not normally be allowed during the course of the academic year except under exceptional circumstances and in the interest of the student’s academic career.
  • The scholarship will be discontinue if a student fails to secure 50 % marks in the annual examination.
  • The students obtaining benefits under this scheme shall not be allowed to avail of benefits under any other scheme for this purpose.
  • A student shall be eligible for only one scholarship for all sources i.e. SC/ST/OBC.
Documents Required for Pre-matric Scholarship to Minority Students

  • Self-attested passport size photograph with signature.
  • Income declaration - affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents/guardian or income certificate from the employer for employed parents/guardian.
  • Proof of permanent residence.
  • Receipt in acknowledge of scholarship in the previous year duly countersigned by the head of the school/institutes
  • Minority community declaration affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper by the student that he/she belongs to any one of the minority communities notified by central Govt.
How To Apply for Pre-matric Scholarship to Minority Students
The applicants shall apply on prescribed application form to the concerned Distt. Officers along with requisite certificate within the stipulated period.
